to grow old and be content
The other way around 5 years ago

Everyone wants to do something, be someone, try this, and live that. I say i just want to be able to look upon all those things that i have done, been, tried, and lived and be contented. Contentment is such a hard concept for those of us with so much more to learn, do, try, and live left in this life. But what if you were to breathe your last today? Are you ok with that? Did you spend everyday accomplishing your GOALS? Or maybe you spent your life living it as best as you saw fit at that given moment and didn’t spend the time making wish list goals. We do what we can and leave the rest for someone else to worry about. Just a thought.

everyone has goals… and everyone, too, would want to be content. so some people think to be content, they need to reach those goals.

my goals are important to me… but they’re not what truly make me happy.

i guess part of being old and being content at the same time is realizing that it might not be possible to reach every goal that we set out there for ourselves.
it’s knowing that it’s okay to fail or to have to try to do things again… or over and over again.

i’m looking forward to growing old, actually… when the word ‘old’ comes to mind, i think of how wrinkles will form around my smiling eyes and how long my grey hair will have grown, just like my grandmother’s. i can only imagine the physical part of growing old… and it’s beautiful and great enough to me to look forward to my inner self in the future.
