get a car. even if its not my dream car. (read all 2 entries…)
My car has become the object of jokes...

Even my 92 year old grandmother makes fun of my car. It’s horrible. Nearly every week something else is wrong with it. The air conditioner has been broken for more than 2 years. The radio/CD player quit working when I got rain in the car when I took Grandma to See Fahrenheit 9/11 at the movie theater. I didn’t get it fixed since I couldn’t stand to hear the news. At any rate, I’m not confident driving the thing more than 30 miles.

I broke down...

and bought a brand new car and I’m really enjoying it. After going without a radio for two years I can’t stand listening to it now. The talking. So, I just play CDs since everything works!

I did it!

I got my brand new car, after I went wild and it’s not blah at all. It’s a little too fancy for the way I that I see myself, but I think I was just so fed up and the 2006s were great deals.

Yay You!!!!

Glad you found something that works and your Grandma will not laugh at it.
I was lucky to find a great deal on my car, without all the power features no one wanted it, but I figure I can easily roll the windows down myself….

One time in the desert.

A long time ago, we were traveling with my aunt and uncle in the California desert. In those days, only fancy cars had automatic windows. My uncle had one. Very fancy. My daughter was 8 months old and then-in this perfectly fancy car, we broke down. It was really hot, sunny and mid day. There we were, the only shade in the car w/ windows that didn’t roll down. The tow truck driver picked us up and we had to ride in the car back into town…with the windows rolled up. The electrical system was out entirely. I prefer cars now w/o the automatic windows, but they are kind of hard to find. You might be lucky one day!

Congratulations!

On your new car, Trauma Junkie. :) Hope it gives you many years of reliable service. Power windows are not the be-all-end-all anyway. A comfortable seat, good gas mileage and reasonable maintenance costs are more important. ;)

No wonder...

they tell this story at Thanksgiving. I’d tell it if I were L!!! It’s so funny that I might just tell it to my family at Thanksgiving.

I gave up and bought a brand new car. I think that my husband is too embarassed to go to the car dealers with me when I do that type of thing. This time, I followed some advice and found the best internet price, faxed out a letter to 8 dealers asking them to beat it, negotiated via the internet with a few of them and then just went and bought the thing w/o a bunch of carrying on.

It is so nice not to feel like I’m in an earthquake everytime I go over 45 mph!
