a lot of people will tell you to “push the gas, and release the clutch at the same time” on paper, that’s exactly what you do, however depending on the clutch, you could be totally revved up before you get the clutch to the engaging point.
tip: with the car parked, and the parking brake on. put the car in 1st gear. slowly release the clutch without pushing the gas. you’ll feel the car start to stall eventually. that is the engaging point.
immediately before the enganging point is when you want to start pushing on the gas. you’ll have less burnouts this way.
as with anything, with practice you’ll become a pro. and don’t get frustrated if you stall it in front of an angry trucker. i’ve been driving stick for years, and still stall out every once in a while.
