I’ve been thinking about this for years, and since it’s connected to one of the characters in my next novel, it’s time to begin. But I’m not really learning for the character. It’s soul work, work that I’ve known intuitively that I should be doing. So far, I’ve weeded and prepped some dirt for growing something, repaired a bit of pipe so that watering will be easier, and filled up a nice rock pool left by the former residents. (It even has a bit of recycled falls going.) I’m after beauty, and to create a space in my urban neighborhood where a bit of sanctuary can be found.
