It’s required in this finance visa process for her to get a very extensive examination. The results are then sealed and given to the US officials at the US Embassy when she goes for her interview next week (the 21st). They X-rayed for TB, tested for HIV and Syphlis, among other stuff. She said she is now ready to go on a mission as a cosmonaut to the moon. All tests went well and she has been given a clean bill of health. So the next step is the interview next week.

Good luck!
My husband is from Canada and we had to do all the same things that you and your fiancĂ© are doing. It really does happen! We were married last October. And you probably know this already but it doesn’t end there! We had an interview after we were married and then we’ll have another one in two years. Crazy! Again, good luck and best wishes to you both!
Thank you!
Yes, I understand that it does not end here. I have heard about the future interviews and paperwork and it feels like once we are together this stuff may be easier to deal with simply because we can deal with it together instead of long distance. Can you tell me anything about the process you went/are going through? We started our paperwork rolling last February and are just now getting to the visa interview.

Are you going together for your
interview or is she going alone? Dan (my husband, then fiancĂ©) went by himself (he had to travel across Canada for his interview) and when he got there it was all couples. He panicked for a minute thinking I was suppose to be there (but no, I didn’t have to be there. Thank goodness because it was already costly to send Dan.)
Before his trip he must’ve went through his paper work at least 20 times to be sure he had everything. Be sure that she (or both of you) do this too… because he was the only one in the waiting room who had everything he needed. One person forgot their money (for the fee), someone else forgot a form and had to have it sent over night, I think someone else forgot a signature… and I know there were four or five other stories like that.
Do you know about this website? We found it extremely helpful. Everyone on the site is going through the same thing and they share stories and answer questions.
Even though we went through it ourselves I find it’s confusing to explain to others and hard to keep straight. If you want to know/read more about our journey, contact me or give me your email address. I tried contacting you but I do not have enough smackers. I will send you a link to our wedding website where we documented everything.
Otherwise, let me know if you have any questions and I’ll try to answer them!
P.S. It’s funny that not one single person asked to look at his XRay. And the envelope is HUGE. Dan carried it around every where… he was begging people to take a peek at it, but no one was interested. Still, bring it… you never know.
She will go alone
I have no more vacation and also the money is tight. I will have money for her ticket to come to me, but I can not go to her now.
Valentina is very thorough in her preparations and we have also been working with an immigration attorney. She has all the paper work so now we only wait for the interview.
My email is pochade@gmail.com
Thank you for the link. I will look at the website for more information.
How long did this process take for you? We filed our petition the begining of last February.
I have read many stories about the process of the interview and it is true all experiences seem to differ. I am sure they will look at the health records but maybe not the x-rays, but you must bring everything anyway just in case.
Thanks for your support!

If you have a lawyer
you should be all set. We couldn’t afford one and thankfully it all worked out.
All the time frames that they give you seem to be right on target (if not, things were a ahead of schedule.) Thank goodness because I had the church booked not to mention the hall, the food, the florists, the photographer, etc.!
We mailed our petition on December 1, 2004. They told us it would take between 150 and 180 days for them to process our case. We found out our petition was approved on February 4, 2005. On April 19, 2005 we got our interview date: May 9, 2005. So exactly six months.
Then Dan moved to Milwaukee. He got the papers for permission to work as he was crossing the boarder. (Such a weird way to do it.) Then we got married in October 2005. He got his Employment Authorization (EAD) card in March 2006. We heard about our next interview in the same month which wasn’t until May 2006… which was approved and the green card sent. Now we have to wait for two years for the next step.
I hope I’m not forgetting anything. (I’m sure I am.) It’s been a fun ride. I’ll email you soon with the other link I promised in a sec. :)
