travel to Africa and join in the fight against AIDS (read all 2 entries…)
I was there... 3 years ago

I was in Africa helping in what areas God directed. My focus was not on people with AIDS, although I’m sure there were many who probably had the virus.
I hope to join the fight by going to orphanages to help with the over abundant numbers of children because their parents have already died of AIDS. The children need love and care, most are babies and toddlers and won’t live much longer than that. Their lives need to be as loving as possible…it will be short.

My dream...

I have always really wanted to do this and I admire people that have the courage to actually get up and DO IT. I mean everyone whats to do something to change the world for the better, but I generally hear more talk than I see action.

So I am going to tell you I really admire you for this :) I would like to do it I guess I have not found the best way to get there is all. I have looked at a few organizations and stuff but I guess I dont want to go for a year and say “oh wow I am really sorry this is affecting you…. what can I do to help?” and then leave and go back to the comforts of my home and tell everyone how horrible it was to see so much pain.. What I am really trying to say is I dont want to go for a year or two I would like to live somewhere where I know I am needed… and make a difference and continue to make a difference, dedicate my life to helping others and letting them know I am with them for the long run.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with just going for a short while but I think I would feel more at peace in my heart if I could achieve that.

I think you are amazing by the way, I read some of your entries and looked at some pictures and I was thinking the whole time, how does she find the strength to do all these things, see so much of this beautiful things the world has to offer!! I think it is amazing it is like your life is one big adventure :) I hope you achieve everything you seek to do.

wow...thanks!

I can do it because God shows me how and leads the way. I couldn’t do it on my own. But don’t think too much against going somewhere for a short time, you never know what you can accomplish in a short time and believe me…you don’t leave and forget or just walk away. You will talk about it, you will help by raising awareness…maybe stay in contact with the people you met and go back. Maybe speak to a person about it that will be the next to go. You never end what you have done when you return home…your footsteps remain there forever.
But there are also lots of ways to get involved and stay involved. I live my life this way and don’t think I could ever go back to “normal” again. Once you step out of the comfort zone of the routine we all get into, you won’t even understand or know how you stayed in it before.
If you are interested…let me know. I can help you get into it if you ever decide to take that leap. Being a missionary is not easy, but I tell you what…it makes me the most blessed person because of it and it is not cheap…but I am the richest I have ever been. I gave up high paying jobs to do this..and I will never regret it.
Stay in touch if you want…you have a heart God wants to use…but you probably know that already. Life is short my friend. I attended one of my best friends funerals today, saw his ashes spread over the ocean. Don’t take any day for granted…ever…they are all grace given to us. If you have something on your heart…start chasing it, go after it…God put it there for a reason. He has big plans for all of us, but sometimes we are not listening.
Thanks for your comments, that lifted my spirits…I needed that today.
You blessed me….see…you are already doing great missions!
God bless.
Leah
