TG

Valley Forge

is a National Historical Park- one of 2 in PA. There are a total of 24 National Park Service sites that occur at least partly in PA- but none of these are full-status “National Parks.”

How many have you been to, Mandy?

TG

How many

of the National Park sites in PA?

Iron Man is one busy hombre

Ooh! the living historian in me, would love to visit this one

I see now by your list above that you haven’t been to the BWCA. It’s gotta be a full fledge Nat’l. Park, because they moved enough people and businesses out of there to create it.

CitaLia has discovered Six Sentences!

LOVE this goal

And I love your list… but I am out of cheers!

TG

Thanks :)

For once I had a couple of cheers so I passed one on to you :)

You mean Casa Grande ruins isn’t a full fledged National Park either?
National Parks are cool. Bully for you!

TG

Casa Grande

is a National Monument. I’ve never been to that one, but I have visited several of the other National Park units in Arizona that are known for their ruins- Canyon de Chelly (the only official National Park out of these), Walnut Canyon, Wupatki, and Navajo.

There are very few national park units I’ve visited that I didn’t think were worth the trip.

Thanks for the National Monument clarification.
TR (Teddy Roosevelt) was the guy who started the whole National Park ball of wax, and he was quite fond of saying “bully” to anything he approved of.
So, again I say, “bully”!

Segsy is on furlow until January 18th! I hope!

Interesting

I have been to 8 on that list.

TG

I've added one

since that entry, so I’m up to 34 now. Of course, I never got around to writing an entry ;)

What were your favorites, Segs? And why?

Segsy is on furlow until January 18th! I hope!

Ok here goes

They all have different meanings for me because I was there at different times in my life. I have to add them to my 43 places with photos when I get a chance.

Smokey Mountains, NC & Shanendoah Valley, VA I was too young to remember. I only have bits and pieces in my head.

Acadia, Me: I was also there when I was I very young but then after college I dated a guy who was in the coast guard stationed in Southwest Harbor so I would drive from NY to ME about every two weeks for a whole summer.
the things one does to get sex
But it is beautiful.

Badlands, SD, Glacier, MT, Grand Teton, WY, Rocky Mountain, CO, & Yellowstone, WY were all visited in one summer when I was 12. I revisited the Rockies when I was about 24. They are ALL beautiful. I like Glacier for the fact that I was walking in snow in the middle of July. The Badlands… well.. I definitley know why they were named the badlands. It was very hot but the canyons are beautiful. All in all the wildlife is just amazing. I could go on.

Can I go, too? wag wag

I visited one park on your list...

it was Mammoth Caves in KY. We went on two or three tours, the caves are fascinating. There was another there in Kentucky I wouldn’t have minded going on and that was a boat tour through the caves.

Oh yes, on your comment, “not a bad start”, that is an impressive list!

If you ever make a trip to Illinois you have got to check out the Shawnee National Forest. It is beautiful. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first visited Southern Illinois and went there, it is truly God’s country. Check out this link:

BTW, thanks for the cheer you gave me!

TG

I've always

liked Mammoth Cave- it was one of the first national parks I ever visited, and I’ve been back several times.

I’ve never really done anything in Shawnee NF, but one of my best friends used to make an annual trip there every fall and he’s told me a lot about it. Maybe sometime I’ll get around to visiting.

My first kiss

When I was 15 a boy from Cave in Rock Kentucy was here visiting his brother and gave me my first kiss. I believe that is right in that area.

Cave-in-Rock is in Illinois, but ....

.... you can take a ferry to get to Kentucky. I went to Cave-in-Rock once when I lived down there. It was a neat place to visit and I drove through some beautiful country and quaint towns like Elizabethtown or as the locals call it “E town”.
Here is a link from Wikpedia which gives the history of Cave-In-Rock.

P.S. So was it a good kiss? Silly question, since it was your first kiss, how would you know? Let me put it this way, is it what you thought a kiss would be?

Boomer Anne knows in good times and bad times things change.

Yes

It was heaven.
Oh, yea I remember now, it was in Illinois but I kept thinking of Kentucky because it’s near the border.

TG has gotten 7 cheers on this entry.
