Deon D. Reaching for more...

Be reborn into the sunshine (read all 17 entries…)
I fell a little short this year 3 years ago

I got caught up in the other aspects of my life. Had to focus more on getting a job and now clearing off my debt, both of which are shaping up quite nicely.

At times I am a little overwhelmed because things are moving so fast these days. I slow myself down too by trying to do everything at once and then I get a bit discouraged because I did not meet all of my goals. I do realize that the restraints I place on myself are a bit unrealistic. I am slowing down and learning to pace myself. I am doing better and not being “Superman” anymore doesn’t bother me as much.

Comments:

that superman/perfectionist thing

is one big honkin’ self-underminer.

Sun comes up every day (even when it rains). Always another chance. A friend uses this lovely phrase re change… that it happens by “relentless incrementalism.”

Also noticed all your weight-loss goals. Want to encourage you to turn your head around on this, to set very specific behavioral goals (like “work out 3X a week for 35 minutes” or “eat fresh fruit 3X a day”) as opposed to outcome goals.

We can’t always chose what we weigh … we can choose, and measure, the habits that take us in the direction of health and fitness. More relentless incrementalism.

Keep reborning!
