write a score worth selling
Untitled

I’m less interested in selling a score than in writing one that I feel is worth selling. This goal is a reflection of what’s become, or perhaps what’s always been, my opinion on my works. Only a few of my works, out of literally hundreds to date, have been satisfactory to me on completion – far more have been abandoned before completion due to dissatisfaction with them – and of those few, not a single one has remained satisfactory beyond a few weeks. The only thing consistent in my musical output is my dissatisfaction with all of it.

It’s likely futile to continue, or at least foolish, if I always feel the same about it—but I enjoy the challenge and enjoy the actual writing and performance of music, even if I rarely care for my end result.

I guess another phrasing of this same goal would be that I’d like to, at least once, write something worth the effort of writing it, something worth listening to.
