A few years ago I went to an introductory meeting with the Rosicrucians. I am not certain that I see eye-to-eye with them on all points philosophically, but I found their literature intriguing. I would say the same holds with Freemasonry, which I have found to be a very rewarding experience. The two societies seem similar, though differently oriented. If one imagined George Washington as the avatar of Freemasonry, Yves Klein would serve as the exemplar of Rosicrucianism. Like myself, Klein was interested in self-control and self-presentation. Plus, the Rosicrucians claim to teach invisibility. Which is either cool, or hilarious.

Pariah Carey?
Well, people only see what they want to see. If this weren’t true, stage magicians would have no career. I fail to see any difference between “true” invisibility and “psychic stealth.” Empirically, they are equivalent and I’m game. I wonder how I would use it.
In many ways, this goal is akin to studying mentalism.
My family is very involved with
freemasonry. My husband and father are both masons, and I am the advisor to one of the sub-groups for little girls. Fun stuff. I don’t necessarily believe in everything they teach (it is still segregated in the South – thumbs down) but I am working internally for the changes that should happen instead of giving up on the group all together.
I love how if I am in trouble, I know I can count on my masonry family to help me out (and they do!!)... If I got lost in some city, I would just look for men wearing that blue ring until I found one. It is a very safe feeling. If the Rosicuricians are like that, then I think it is truly worthwhile to pursue.
Masonry is odd.
One could say it is segregated. One could say it is not. Perhaps if I am ever in SC (it’s been several years), I could stop by your husband’s lodge. If you are ever in RI, Redwood #35 welcomes you.
Hey thanks... I go to RI on occassion...
mostly to the Newport area because two of my good friends are from there. It is a lovely place to vacation, although I like the bars in Providence better. Especially a little upstairs punk bar that K. and I happened onto one night years ago. We didn’t get in any barfights, but we did write on the walls and scratch our names into a few tables.
((memories… ahhhh))
Masonry IS odd, but without it I wouldn’t have half the friends or things that I have. We are a very close group down here. Our lodge is located in the heart of the Charleston ghetto (strangely, so is my house), so we have to use the buddy system a lot (especially for my little girls and the lady groups) so we all know each other really well. Do you have Eastern Stars and Rainbows and DeMolays?
