go for hikes more often (read all 7 entries…)
modification of goal 3 years ago

Ok, yes I want to go on hikes more. But I’m going to expand this goal to include any kind of daytrip which involves getting out of this here concrete jungle…

I’ve heard Nagoya described as the “Detroit” of Japan – very industrial. Plus, all the funky historical buildings were bombed to sh*t some 60 years ago, so not much character in the city.

BUT it’s a feast for the eyes, if you’ve got a cement fetish.

Tristan is a soft, blank slate

I loved Japan when I was there last year. Tokyo and I had a love affair.

Are you studying and working in Nagoya?

Danadanadana Rearranging and revamping

Sort of...

I’m just working here.

Very little studying involved. My “learn Japanese” goal is more a result of the circumstance of being here than from any intrinsic interest I had in Japan.
(There are a lot of other languages I’d be more excited to learn – like French, Arabic, Spanish, German….)

I guess I’ve been doing a lot of navel-gazing in the past 2 years, much of which was highly overdue. And when living in a different culture there are always new challenges and new things to learn, which is something I enjoy about being here. But I couldn’t say I’m deliberately STUDYING anything.

Tokyo’s a completely different story – Nagoya’s considered the most conservative city in the country. Tokyo is a blast. If I came back to Japan, I’d definitely live in Tokyo. But then I’d never save any money, ha ha!

I've never heard of a cement fetish

That one really got me laughing and grinning like a fool. Thanks for the humor!
