move out of New York City
my move from the city 3 years ago

i lived in nyc for two years. i missed all of my friends and family back home in nc. so thinking that i didnt have enough friends in the city i moved home. i regret this a lot. the city had so much to offer, so much to do and see and experience. and there were so many more people that i needed to meet. after being home for almost a year i realized that i was letting fear hold me back from doing all of those things. so now that i have grown up some more i am ready to move back…one day…and do everything i possibly can in the best city ever!!!!

Move to a more urban area in the state where you live. I live here in NYC, and I’ve lived here my whole life. As much as I love it, there are a lot of sacrifices you have to make to live here. Sure, it was great while my parents were footing the bill but. now that it’s on my dime- I am definitely moving somewhere more affordable. Sure I want it to be young and hip but affordable is my main thing right now unless I move back home with my parents sometime soon lol…

I’m glad I read this. I’m about to make the big move and although my boyfriend and I are moving together, I’m worried I will be lonely and miss my friends. I already live far from family so I’m used to that. But I know that I’ll think of leaving because I’ll be lonely at first. But I’ll have to suck it up and just go out and make friends!

I’m going through the exact same thing. I left NYC and moved to Seattle, thinking that I wanted to be closer to friends from college and that I wanted a slower pace. But now that I’m here, I realize that I, too, was afraid of committing to a life in New York. I’m moving back as soon as possible, too. I applaud you!
