play tent... 2 years ago

This play tent is cute but very expensive. When I was a young girl I made my own play tents out of large blankets draped over furniture in our home. I think that’s what our kids will be doing as well if this is the going rate for play tents!

Still, when I look at these things I begin to wonder if it’s something I could pull off making on my own. I mean, things on this homemade site don’t look THAT hard to make. You would just need sewing skills and such. However, I’m probably mistaken. It’s probably very hard to make these handmade items, hence the expensive prices!

Comments:

probably not that hard

Just take a blanket and maybe a few plastic jugs or jars weighted down with stones to hold some sticks. You might have to demonstrate it first but let them get creative and figure something out themselves, after all you hear so much on the news about kids nowadays being way too overscheduled and severely lacking in unstructured play.

yeah, so true...

I wonder if I could make one like the one on that site? I know I would need fabric and some sort of piping is what looks like they made it with.

Geez, I really want to learn how to do embroidery and sewing/knitting so that I can make handmade products like the ones on that site. Ha, it’s probably too late for me to learn it but maybe I’ll add it as a goal. People who can do that have a great talent and can personalize their items so well!

Cheers,
Sissy
