Stop thinking in an "all or nothing" way. (read all 3 entries…)
I do this all the time 3 years ago

and it really keeps me from getting things done! Like playing piano for instance. On days when I don`t have the time or energy to sit down and play for an hour, I generally don`t play at all, it just doesn`t feel like it means anything. But, if I did sit down and just play through whatever piece I`m working on a couple of times on those days, or practice chords for 5 minutes, it would probably make quite a lot of difference in the long run. And when I do sit down to play, it usually find it`s so much fun I don`t want to stop…
And it`s really the same with so many other things. Such as that working on things to teach my dog to be home alone once a day, or once every second day, really is a whole lot better than not doing anything. But I find if I can`t do a huge traning programme and work on it lots of times every day, it doesn`t matter what I do, and I don`t do anything at all.

I need to change my thinking.

Sounds like fun!

I didn`t quite get how it works though? And what holiday is it for?

Trauma_Junkie enjoyed her Christmas Package.

well

which ever holiday you celebrate in December. Most people send CHristmas or hannukah cards. some people send new years.
So I will send out a list probably the week after thanksgiving with addresses etc on them. then you send a card from whatever holiday you celebrate (so you might want to include a nice note explaining some unique tradition for the holidays you have…) and you recieve cards from others that celebrate their holidays…sort of a learning exchange. BUt for the most part I’ve gotten xmas cards…and some new years ones.

I`m in!

Sounds fun. :)

Moose Moosie in the sky with diamonds

I do this too!!

either – like you – in a “if I can’t sit down and have a proper session then it’s not worth starting” kind of way, or in a “if I can’t do it every day I’m not going to do it at all” way.

In reality, concentration rarely lasts an hour anyway and it’s almost always better to take the opportunity to do whatever you have time for – it does build up over time.

That really is true

I do the same with my messy rooms (which means all rooms;)). I clean and tidy them up completely every now and then. But then the mess magically reappears. And instead of just tidying a little bit whenever I`m walking around in the rooms I get a bit overwhelmed by it and think that I`ll clean it up properly during the weekend or something. Picking up a coupl,e of things when you`re walking by them really is a much better way to do it! I`ll try to woek on that habit too..

Today, at least, I`ve manadged to have several 10-minute pianoplaying sessions, instead of thinking that I don`t feel like playing for an hour,s othen it`s not worth it. That`s a little bit of progress at least! ;)
