Diana Gabaldon writes the Outlander series. Books in the series (in order) are: Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. They are romantic (not a bunch of smut), historical novels. Because they are so well written they are a fast read and are very entertaining and should be read in order.
