Addendum

In the time it’s taken me to write that review, I’ve read Succeed On Your Own Terms, half of The Starbucks Experience, and Money for Content and Your Clicks for Free.

Des is slowly regaining her sanity (unfortunately?)

I was just thinking

When you read books that fast, do they have any time to sink in? I wonder if you went back through books you’ve read—would you find that you’ve retained more information from the ones for which you’ve written reviews?

That was actually...

...one of the main reasons I decided to start reviewing them. I make mental notes of the books as I’m going through, and then force myself to write the initial draft from memory.

I couldn’t say if it’s working or not, but the other night I was able to give the author of Succeed On Your Own Terms one of the names from his book when his mind went blank in the presentation.

At this point, I’m not sure how useful my reviews actually are to anyone else though. Also, there are three books that I remember quite well, and I’ve never reviewed any of them! However, I think those stuck for different reasons – I just haven’t figure out what those reasons are yet.

Sheesh

I just found a book I read a couple of months ago which I’d forgotten about: The Mind of the Modern Moviemaker.
