get a job (read all 6 entries…)
back to square one.. 2 years ago

..got fired today from that s@#^$* place I’ve been working at for the last three days..

Sadly the factory I was working for and the industry branch in Israel in general are trying to compete with the Chinese industry market.. by trying to do so they make most of the Israeli industry workers into slaves:

  • they demanded 12 hours straight of work with almost no toilet breaks and no water drinking breaks so that they would produce max products!!! (just a half an hour lunch break). this action is against the laws here, work places aren’t allowed to demand more than 8 hours a day, but since there is no strong leadership that would make sure this happens, a lot of Israeli companies do not acknowledge the local laws as a policy!!
  • the slavery at the sweatshop didn’t pay off for me although I did read yesterday at the company’s web site that they make about 50 million $ a year by exporting these products abroad.
  • I got many bruises and aches from the physical challenge..

They fired me after I told them that I’m not going to stay more than 8 hours.

I need a job to get the money needed for plan D… I am willing to compromise on many aspects of the desired job place but I do have my red lines, specialy when it comes to my health.

As it currently looks like, finding a decent temporary job in the Galilee which will pay off seems like almost an impossible dream.

First thing first – I’m gonna need some rest from the job I just finished with and try again next week..

The Global Economy

You seem to have found yourself on the wrong end of the global economy. Although it could be worse; you could be one of the Chinese workers that your factory is trying to compete with.

I take it

the Labor movement isn’t real strong in Israel at the moment? The company I work for has a strong tradition of labor, so that this kind of nonsense doesn’t happen very often. Consequently, lots of people want to work there – some people apply every 6 months for years.

Organized labor makes a huge difference. An injury to one is an injury to all. I wish you luck on finding an employer with a conscience and a sense of decency!

Barak has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
