Read Under the Net. 3 years ago

This breezy philosophical comedy by Iris Murdoch feels rather slight at first, but the ending is inexplicably moving. There is something very subtle going on here beneath the surface. Definitely worth reading.

Under the Net was the first I.M. books that I read and I really liked it. Having since read a few others that were also very good, but darker and more complex (I’m thinking of The Good Apprentice in particular), I think Under the Net was a good introduction to her writing.
