Morality

Is training the best method to tell people how to make right moral choices?

It would be if we could provide training for all moral dilemnas that come up however, I am sure that there are ones which no prior training or experience even exists. Some involving life or death, who to save, (stealing food for your starving family, should that person go to jail?) Pulling the plug on a terminaly ill patient? Robbing the rich and give to the poor, etc.

So how do you train everyone to follow a clear cut model? There isn’t one. I believe God gives us this choice we make ourselves and uses our own life experiences for this type of training, life’s training. We may make good choices, and bad choices and we eventualkly learn from our own mistakes what works and what doesn’t. Myself, I want to sleep nights knowing the choices I make are in my own mind, moral right choices. If I were to steal something, I would not be able to live with myself, Same with cheating on my spouse, which I would never do, murder, hunting defensive animals, hitting a women, etc. That’s how I live my life and make moral choices. I hope that helps. Great question.

I agree with you Geo..

Morality can not be taught or thrown upon someone,it is in built in personality. It comes through character ethics as Covey has said.Life teaches many things,it makes no boundry line,no syllabus. Moral grooming may give a refine touch on the things you already have.Anyway..good question.

thought-provoking...

What’s morality??
Do not lie.Do not steal.Do not harm/hurt other living beings…etc..etc..
But,i nearly lie everyday.I don’t know what should i say about morality, but, still i consider myself a person of integrity, trust, and values.Perhaps derailment of morality sometime is situational.
Here comes the training part.May be a higher level of consciousness help in sticking to values.I believe in accepting responsibilities.I don’ shift them on other person’s shoulder,no matter how much i pay for them.
Training can bring fineness in my inbuilt goodness and moral standards.
