My wife (who is a glass artist) and I have bought a number of pieces over the years from artists who have participated in open studios events or art festivals.

It’s wonderful for us to go into our rooms, see the art on the walls and enjoy our purchases.

You don’t always have to spend that much to get some great original art. If you find an emerging artist, their work is often priced lower than that of similar artists. A number of the artists who we purchased pieces from are now out of our price range.

You can also find good original art at various college art departments. Most schools with art programs have galleries where their students show their work. If you frequent these events you can sometimes find work you love.
