Last year my best friend and I drove the entire coastline of the U.S. It was hands down the best experience of my life. I drove the entire time, and the whole trip took us about a month. Renting a car was the most costly part. Hotels were relatively cheap- we would stop in at least 5 each night and compare pricing to get the lowest rates that we could. I’ll never forget the feeling of the air on my face, day in and day out, no worries or responsibilites…it was wonderful. You’ve got to do it.
