restore politeness, refinement, tact and other old-fashioned niceties

I’m going to practice this with the “strangers” on the street. As in less scowling, eye rolling and looks of disgust (from me) at rude, inconsiderate people who push you out of the way and more smiles, “good mornings” and “excuse me” to the perfectly nice people I walk by on a daily basis—like the newspaper hawkers or the el attendents or the building security people.
