run a marathon (read all 13 entries…)
THE most painful, MOST FUN thing I've ever done in my life! 2 years ago

A charley Horse in my left calf made it agony after mile six, but I didn’t care much, even though it slowed me way down. My friends, Ken and Johnny, carried signs with arrows pointing to me saying, “Clap for Diana!” and “Doesn’t she look great!” and “This is her first marathon!” People were awesome to me and the goodwill and cheers were absolutely incredible! I totally ate it all up! I cheered right back to everyone who cheered me. I felt like a celebrity and my face hurts from smiling the whole way. After the race strangers were hugging me and congratulating me. It was so incredible. I absolutely could not have done it without Ken’s support and encouragement. Talking and singing and discussing food and beer with him made it bearable and even fun. Thanks 43T friends, especially Flirt! Don’t know what I’d do without you guys!!!!! Love ya’!

BTW – It took me about 5 hours and 40 minutes. I’m pefectly happy with that time. I was able sprint and smile and wave at the end!

Oh forgot one detail...

Ken and Johnny both ran the Oklahoma Marathon yesterday and Ken ran a 100-miler last weekend, as well! They are my heroes!!!!

HOORAY!!!

Congratulations!!! You are so AWESOME and I, for one, am PROUD to know you!!!

Of course, we all KNEW you could do it, but it’s still so exciting for it to be over and to see this goal actually marked as “completed” (did you do that yet?)!!!

Yes I did and it was very satisfying! I got your little bear email this morning before I left and it totally made me laugh! Thanks so much for all your support, Girlie!

Great Time!

And you had a good time doing it! I’m so proud of you, but I was sure you could do it. Remember to get some movement in tomorrow, even if you hurt a lot. Otherwise it’ll all stiffen up- but it sounds like you’ll get lots of good advice and post run support too.
