graduate with a first (read all 2 entries…)
Woop! 4 years ago

I got the confirmation through the post, and I have the ceremony on Thursday :) There were a few weeks of seriously hardcore working, but it paid off. So now I’ve got a B.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence, and a good one at that!

I’ve now got a job working as a reasearcher in my department, working on semantic web technology whilst undertaking a Ph.D. This is all a year earlier than I should have – I’m effectively ‘skipping’ the Masters’.

Last week I spent a week in Spain at the European Ontology and Semantic Web Summer School as a result of the Ph.D. – hopefully it’s a sign of things to come!

Clarification

In the UK, undergraduate degrees are classified into the following categories, depending on your grades throughout your degree course:

  • First Class
  • Second Class
    • Upper Second Class (2:1)
    • Lower Second Class (2:2)
  • Third Class
  • Pass
    (and then fail…)

Hope that helps! :)
