see a movie alone.
by far the best way to go. 3 years ago

I have always been plagued with “film” friends. People who are going to school to make movies, write screenplays, do set design, act. Film people. You know the type. These friends are wonderful, and I love them. But sometimes, I just want to go see a movie. And sometimes, I want to go see what I WANT TO SEE. The best way to do this is to go get a GIANT bag of buttery greasy salty popcorn, sneak in some candy and a big bottle of water, and sit myself down to the flick of my choosing. Then, during and after the film, I don’t have to hear, “Well, I think they should have done this instead,” or “the lighting here leaves a lot to be desired.” Argh. Just thinking about that makes my head hurt.

Josh ...and life just rolls on like a river.

I know what you mean. I run into the same problem with music and art, too. So many of friends have degrees in art and music (and some in film) that it’s hard to just let anything be what it is. Sometimes solo is the best way to go. Or maybe I just need some less “enlightened” friends to hang out with, too. lol…
