yakuza who has missed me?

quit smoking, again (read all 6 entries…)
7 days today 3 years ago

I’ve been smoke free for 7 days now. I decided that I should quit again (this time for good). I’ve wanted to for a while, but with the elections and some other stressful stuff, it was not the right time. I think it is now.

The toughest times are when I’m out at the bar playing pool. I am in a pool league on Monday nights and Thursday nights and a lot of people smoke there. Gladly, the bar (and everywhere in DC) will go smoke free on Jan. 1.

If I can make it until then, it’ll be much easier.

That's great to hear

I’m cheering you on from here!

yakuza who has missed me?

Thanks

I’m trying to tell people so that they don’t tempt me, etc. but I know that if I have even a drag, it’s back to square one.

Cheer cheer cheer

Good luck—this is such a worthy goal!

yakuza who has missed me?

It's rough at times

But I think it’s worth it too. Especially since DC goes smoke free on 1/1/07. I’m getting a head start.

Yeah for you--

and Yeah for DC! I hope you’re still sticking with this one. You can do it, Chug Brown! ::G:: (Somehow Chug doesn’t have quite the same ring as Charlie in that phrase…)

yakuza who has missed me?

True

Thank you. My name is Chuq too. With a Q. But that doesn’t quite have the same ring either does it?

Thanks again mejaka!

Oh, right! The underline threw me, but on other occasions I’ve seen your name here and knew it was Chuq. Which is, of course, what my favorite Peanuts character (P. Patty) calls Charlie. Only she doesn’t spell it in Spanish. :^ )

ha ha

No problem! The underline throws everyone!

You're My Hero

I’m so proud of you that you’re working on this ahead of the ban. I know you can do it, Chuq. You’ve shown you have the strength, determination and will-power to accomplish whatever you set your mind to, and this is no different.

Thanks for the vote of confidence

It’s been over two weeks now, my sleep schedule is getting back to normal and I almost went to the gym this morning. Perhaps I’ll make it tomorrow morning.

I do feel good, but it is indeed much more difficult when I’m out and about and my friends are smoking. I think if I make it until January, it’ll make it much easier.

Are you still...

...a non-smoker?

yakuza who has missed me?

I'm not

I fell off the wagon about a week ago, but I’ve had 3 cigarettes since I came to Seattle, and I am hoping to stop once I get back. It is definitely tough.

Don't give up

We’re all behind you!

I echo Des's sentiments...

you’ll be my newest person I encourage until they reach non-smoking status, then. You’ll get there. You did it once, it’s easier to deal with problems the second time around, so I have total faith you’ll be able to conquer this again. :)

Hiya Deni

I fell off the wagon shortly after this post. :( I’m not discouraged though. I just don’t think that I was ready to quit yet. I’m going to try a 2 week detox and see how that goes.

Good for you...

for not giving up! :D I’ll be checking in on you.

You can do it

Go Chuq!

yakuza who has missed me?

I'm trying Nina!

I had 3 tonight, but that was the first three that I’ve had since Saturday (I guess since today is Monday or Tuesday I guess) it’s not too bad.

I’ve been a smoker for 11 years now, and it’s time for me to kick this habit. Thanks for the encouragement, and I hope to be smoke free from here on out.

Keep at this!

Three is better than the whole stack of them you would have been smoking… We’re all rooting for you!

Checking in again

Now it’s January. Is it any easier?

yakuza who has missed me?

Hey Des

I fell off the wagon, but I’ve made a self-resolution to do a short de-tox period, where I don’t smoke, don’t drink, work out, drink more water and eat healthier.

I think a short-term goal about quitting will be easier than trying to go for the whole shebang. I might even cut out red meat for some (or all) of that period.

I’ve done it before, but I don’t think I cut out smoking.

Wish me luck, and by the way, it’s February! ;)

How're you doing, Chuq?

It’s time for me to check in on you. :)

yakuza who has missed me?

Hi Deni

I haven’t actually started on this yet. One of the things that I’ve learned about myself after having tried to quit a few times before, is that I won’t last long without myself wanting to quit or when I’m actually ready. That hasn’t happened recently, but I do think that it’s right around the corner.

There are certain circumstances that have pretty much nudged me in this direction, but luckily nothing major.

Okay...

I understand where you’re coming from. That’s kind of what was going on with my caffeine, too. I do hope you’ll come to the point of being ready soon, though. :)

yakuza who has missed me?

I'm going to try

Just knowing that you (and others) are cheering me on is providing a little pressure (in a good way) to get me to quit. I appreciate it, and will let you know when that day comes.
