Moving back home to sunny Southern California is number 1 on my todo list but this is definently a CLOSE 2nd!!!! I never thought I would ever miss California so much. I took it for granted. (I was born in Los Angeles, and raised in Riverside County up until last year.) My first child was born there and my 2nd was born here in Texas nad I feel sorry for him. Just kidding. But seriously, I cant stand this place. And to make matters worse, we moved the the most secluded little town. Its like 15 minutes to a freakin grocery store!! augh!! I am from LOS ANGELES people!! so yeah, sorry for my rant. But I have to get out. Or else I will go crazy. I am giving myself only 5 more years here in Texas just so my husband and I can finish college without having to pay rent. (We live with my parents.) then its back to california. and never looking back.

You’re right, nothing against Texas itself….I have lived in several places there too…including the sticks…The people there are actually very friendly…it makes for sweet small talk…it’s great for raising small children….but there comes a time when you have to spread your wings…you have to have be surrounded with movement, with rythyms, with abundant opportinities…small towns are amazing places for young famiies and retired folks, but small towns think small….and even some whole states, no matter how big, seem small and stale. I have lived in other states as well, in large and small communities. We moved to SoCal from a one-horse town when our children were 18, 16, 14, & 10. People thought we were crazy. We did it because we didn’t want them to grow up with the small-town frame of mind. We wanted them to experience cities with shakers and thinkers. People who want to move forward, people with goals and dreams and aspirations. California is not for everyone, and a lot of people put it down (you wouldn’t know it by the amount of people out here!), but it is definatley the right place for those folks who want opportunities for their children and want to live life to it’s fullest. Sounds like you have a plan. Stick to it no matter how long it takes. See you when you get home!
