I have found out where my mother lives.. but I decided to everything properly as I don’t want to turn up on her doorstep and give her the shock of her life. So yesterday I contacted the social worker and she says I have to write a written application then they will check my files and take it from there. So I need to get cracking with the letter..

I met my birthmother
I found out that I was adopted when my Mom (who raised me from birth) died. It was totally shocking and very challenging…anyway, it took me a little while to get up the courage to search for my birthmother…fortunately I met her briefly, spent the entire day with her and 2 of my siblings, then she died 6 months later. Because I met her so much later in life, I didn’t really feel any connection. I am still grateful to have met her in person and heard why she put me up for adoption. I realized that the parents who raised me were my true parents- they gave me a wonderful home where I felt safe and loved. Meeting my birthmother did give me closure, so I highly recommend it. Especially in your situation, where she is communicating with you. There is a wonderful chance to have a meaningful adult relationship with her. Good luck with your journey!
