to the Jiffy Tour. The Bakehouse is a bit east, in Ann Arbor near I-94 exit #177 – tours are Saturday mornings, $5 (or more than a dozen boxes of Jiffy Mix), and on hold ‘til after the holidays. The Jiffy focus on value and making things easy and good for the home baker, and the Bakehouse focus on handmade production and luxury ingredients, plus of course the whole scale thing, make for fascinating similarities and differences. On the whole I enjoyed the Jiffy tour more (really now, conveyor belts and hairnets! are hard to beat) but have to admit the Zingerman’s samples were mighty tasty. For anyone looking for tours in the general SE Michigan area, it’s a good pairing.
