use 43things to develop collaborative Ultraversity work (read all 3 entries…)
ultraversity teams collaboration 3 years ago

This goal was created so that we can learn better how the concept of “teams” and shared goals works withing 43things and to produce an RSS feed of 43things activity by Ultraversity people. So let’s see how far we can push it :-)

Feel free to invite more individuals to the same goal, I think there may well be some people who will appreciate being introduced to this useful facility.

Comments:

SMART - RSS

It’s a bit of a pain to follow in the RSS feeder re peer review – the original topic with the ‘SMART’ heading is great but … unless the comments are also prefaced with the ‘SMART’ heading then I have to trawl all of the feeds to find any comments – must be a better way …

Comment Feed

Perhaps the only way to get the comments in RSS is to subscribe to that person’s ” 43things activity related to Evet…..”.
I notice that if there’s a commment responding to me, I get an email notification of it, which is handy.

Yes but ...

I do get the comments in RSS – but unless the comment title is annotated to show that it is SMART related – as my previous one was but this one isn’t then it is unclear from the feed reader which comments relate to which one of the 43 things until you’ve read it – if you get my drift.

I did get an email with your reply to my comment – but Linda’s just come in with the feed.

Perhaps we need to make sure we use the SMART tag in the title line? ...

No but ...

But this comment isn’t anything to do with SMART, it’s to do with “Ultraversity teams collaboration” which is an entry under the goal “use 43things to develop collaborative…”

So do you think the comments should have the same title ( or prefix ) as the entry they relate to, or the goal, or can they just be freeform – is that it?

YES!

Sorry – been awake since 3:30 and brain not in gear – how do you set the time zone on here BTW? – I was replying re the collaborative heading and trying – very poorly – to make the point that as a collaborative tool we perhaps need to be more specific with the headers to the messages.

Thank you for getting the point! Yes – comments should have the same title ( or prefix ) as the entry (or the goal) that they relate to. At least to help when reading via a feed reader – I’m actually finding it easier to come and visit the site where I can see all the comments in order, using the RSS feed to notify me of new entries, so the comment header makes a lot of difference if, say, I have very little time, and choose only to concentrate on the headers related to the peer review – I would then miss the comments if they weren’t prefaced by SMART, for instance.

Now that’s as clear as mud i shall go and have my dinner – It’s ten to one here – despite the clock time of posting.

Ooh err...

Isn’t it strange when you come into an environment with a different paradigm for things. I’m all at sea. The nitial invite to ‘do something on 43 things’ dropped me into my perosnal space, whereas in my mind I had expected to be dropped into this space. Here is the same old tension – personal spaces v group spaces. The same tension I see in blogs. Sure we can all discuss on each others’ blogs but generally there is very little discussion there, in comparison to group spaces…

Teams

I know what you mean, it is a little strange but I’m finding it enjoyable to explore this particular environment, despite the lake of initial guidance, rather than annoying for some reason which bodes well. It takes a little time to get into it.

At present we seem to have 6 of us who have adopted this same goal, but only 4 in the “team”. I don’t know if that is something to do with the invitation procedure. The team might be the group space.

invitations tick box

I just sent out a couple of invitations to interested students and this time I noticed a tick box with “invite __ to do this as a team” which is by deafult unticked, so that probably explains why Mo and Pete are with us in the goal but not in the team.

On the subs bench

Hi Andy and the team!
I’m still finding my way around 43 things but have added some goals that are important to me. There are quite a few more but I want to re-assess whether they really are goals or just whims! I’m not sure how to keep track of all your goals, which I’d like to do, as I don’t want to do this in isolation. Can you help me please?

Hi Mo

As is often the case, there are several different ways to get there.
Your comment popped up in my email, so maybe this one will in yours. You can subscribe to various levels of RSS too, look for the little orange rectangle. And you can just click on someone’s name to visit their goal list – look for the ones with entries(1) or more against them then dig down. That’s enough for now, if you keep it up then we’ll be in touch.
