i spend my life living paycheck to paycheck and i really don’t have to! i make enough to kick it and pay my bills ESPECIALLY with two others in the house but man…..i just don’t do it right! i have got to start paying myself first and letting money pile up so on rainy days i can have the coins needed to do what i have to do. the madness must stop!
Comments:
make it a priority
and set a definite amount each paycheck, each month…whatever works for you. It’s great to say that you’re going to pay yourself first, but if you don’t give an amount it won’t get you very far!
thanx...
i will be sure to make it priority right NOW! thanks for the encouragement. i really needed that. I’ve been thinkin about investing in mutual funds or an IRA or somthing on top of putting money in my savings account. Im really practical so i think i can do this with no quwalms. i’ve made a plan to start off small (like 50 dollars to my savings every pay) and then build up as i get comfortable. again thanks for the comment. i will keep you posted! by the way….how the hell are ya! lol
I hope you can find
something that works for you! I know it took DH and I a while to dig ourselves out of debt…and the way we did it was, amazingly, to increase our savings! That way we had a cushion other than the credit cards when unplanned stuff came up…you know, like a new tire for the car!
I don’t have an IRA but my job does have the 401k option and I contribute to the max. One (fairly) painless way to do this is to put half of any raise or bonus in there. You still feel like you’re getting a raise and yet you know you’re saving, too! You can do this with any savings plan…though some IRAs will help you out tax-wise…and I don’t think they go onea calendar year, so if you decide on April 14th to contribute $2000 it would be tax deductable!
Disclaimer: I am not a tax consultant or financial wizard so I probably don’t know what I’m talking about! Make an effort to find someone who knows this stuff!
Oh…and I’m great…how’re things with you??!! :-)
pretty darn good thanx!
lol! so i got a direct deposit for my money saving thing i got goin on. even tho it’s christmas i managed to NOT spend a whole hell of a lot on gifts. I focused more on what would mean more to the people that im giving them to and ended up not spending alot of money. i recommend this to everyone. it works!
I really need to start doing this myself and I’m going to start right after I get caught up from Christmas!
I think this is a really great idea:
With this set up, you link your checking account to this savings account and directly deposit the money into savings. It has a high percentage yield, and if you want to take the money out, it takes AT LEAST two days. This is the best part, because any money that I can get at easily is money I will spend. If it’s harder to get at, I think I’m more likely to leave it alone.
I don’t know if this will help your situation, but best of luck to you!
