RUNRGRL wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year needs to either let 43 things go or get back into it

Write a list of 43T from my childhood that are truly Canadian and make sure my children get to do the same (read all 2 entries…)
Friendly Giant 2 years ago

Globetrotter reminded me of great Canadian Kids Television shows and I remembered the beloved Friendly Giant. This was one of my favorite shows as a kid, he had such a gentleness and warmness about him I guess that’s why he was known as the Friendly Giant. I can see the draw bridge coming down and here the opening music and you can too and even better you can also watch the end of the show and see Jerome the Giraffe and Rusty the Rooster

Comments:

As much as I loved this show

I have to wonder if they were smoking anything when they were creating characters and storylines. I mean, a green Giant? And Jerome is quite pyschedelic-looking, isn’t he? Lol

Nevertheless, this was another one of my favorites as a kid. I never missed it. Canadian television has some pretty wild and crazy characters that are well-known and beloved by Canadian kids everywhere. Thirty years later, I can still see them as clear as day in my mind.

Lol

Yeah, Jerome is quite psychedelic now that you mention it. But I find myself wondering if your parents should have sprung for a new tube, as the Friendly Giant was never green ;p! But the Jolly Green Giant was. Just a friendly ribbing, hope you don’t mind;)

D'oh

Talking about all these giants makes my head swim, or it could be all the cold meds I’ve been dosing myself with lately. I was just looking at the two online and was actually wondering what canned vegetables and the TV show had in common. I figured there was an easy explanation….now who’s the psychedelic one? Could it be me?

37nfalling will feel better by next week.

I loved Jerome!!! I remember the days when I would get to stay home form school and I was always excited to be able to see this show. The line “for two to crawl up in” when he was arranging all the chairs always made me feel cozy and warm. I miss this wonderful little show. It is a piece of home.

RUNRGRL wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
