We Lost Tonight! 3 years ago

My daughter lost her basketball game tonight. She played well, with an aggressive edge (OK, she fouled out). To be short, they lost to a team that they could have beaten. She took it hard.

I raised my daughter to be competitive and aggressive. She HATES to lose! I was proud of her performance, but most of all I was proud of her “edge”.

This is so nice… I love hearing other parents being supportive of their children, even when things do not go as well as our kids were hoping. This is such an important thing, not just to be proud of them when they are at he top, but to be just as proud of them when they lose or are not happy with the outcome of a game/test/etc.. It is when they try and keep at it that they are at the top of their game, regardless of what the scoreboard says.

My daughter is the same way, she hates losing, although I have taught her to try her best and to remember that it’s about having fun, bettering ourselves, and just enjoying it (whether soccer or basketball or school; she excels in all of those!). My daughter used to be devastated when she lost a game, and now she will be down, but she can tell me how much fun she had, and this positivity just makes children shine. =) I am always teaching my babies: It’s not about the destination, it is the journey that counts, and I think they are listening. =) Still, I love how my children never give up… that (in my opinion) is what gives them that edge. =)

Your daughter is lucky to have a Dad who cares so much. =)
