Keep Track of All Books I Read in 2006 (read all 6 entries…)

“Naked” by David Sedaris Next
A halarious memoir, if you like memoirs. It actually almost had me convinced I would like to check out a nudist colony.

“These bones are not my child’s” by Toni Cade-Bambara
A very LONG novel about the Altanta murders in the 60s/70s, very good if you like the writing style of Toni Morrison.

“Passion and Purity” by Elisabeth Elliot
Convicting? yes. Ridiculous? yes. A story of passion and purity told by a woman who waited five years for her love and him for her, never having touched each other. Their struggles shown in journal entrys, poetry and letters. Irritating and inspiring.

Comments:

Good month, it sounds like

I got about halfway through Naked, but didn’t find it nearly as entertaining as his other books (particularly Corduroy and Denim). I should probably finish it at some point. I was impressed to hear you call it “hilarious”; maybe I should pick it back up now that I have some distance from the other two of his I’ve read.

If you like Toni Cade Bambara, by the way, I know my wife would instruct me to recommend The Salt Eaters. I tried to read it last year, but that was during the phase where I just couldn’t finish anything fictional. So I never finished it. But it’s easily her favorite book, I think.

Passion and Purity sounds good. Why “irritating,” though?

sorry my response is late

‘Naked’ was my first Sedaris book, which probable explains our difference in opinions. I think I just got done reading some heavier books in topic and so I was in need of a comic relief.

I have heard good things about ‘The Salt Eaters’ and I will read it sooner or later I’m sure! Thank you for the recomendation, your wife taught you well. :)

Irritating because… well… it would be hard to explain to someone who hasn’t read it!

Bgirlstance has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
