scooterbird is thinking that 2009 couldn't be that bad

Design my Tarot Deck (read all 2 entries…)
Worked on it some more 2 years ago

I’ve changed things around quite a bit. There are five suits – hearts, swords, clouds, stars, and stones – and the Major Arcana is completely redone. I chose images that were of more personal value to me. There are 17 Major cards, plus a “zero” and ten in each suit for a total of 68.

Interesting Concept

I definitely see value in designing one’s own deck with one’s own symbolism. I’m curious what your 17 major cards are, and what significance zero has.

Interesting, I suppose

Thanks for your question! The 17 I have listed are The King, Queen, Prince, and Princess (thus, removing these from the courts of the various suits), The Rose, The Jester, The Hermit, The Open Road, The Ocean, The Walking Stick, The Forest, The Sky, The Network, Time, Space, The Sun, and the Moon. All of these symbols are strong personal ones…and of course they are subject to some change as I re-imagine them. The Network in particular is problematic; I might replace it with the Spiderweb or something like that.

The zero card is listed as simply “Cypher”. I’ve imagined it as being an embodiment of the Zen concept of “no-thing” – that which signifies an absence of all else. (For example, it would be an appropriate card as an answer to the question, “What is higher than love?”)
