leahjt is having a day off ... maybe read a book :)

learn my own culture's language (read all 4 entries…)
only know a few words... 2 years ago

i can count to 10 in my language
and know how to say teeth (chee chee chee)

our language is very difficult … i took an evening lesson once … and the language uses a lot of the back of your throat… like you’re choking out something LOL

so after my lesson.. and the next day…..my throat was SORE!

but i would LOVE to learn it

Comments:

this is an awesome goal

you should definitely go for it…

i speak my mother tongue (Gujarati) but only because my mother was very stubborn when i was young, and she wouldn’t respond to me unless I spoke to her in Gujarati…

of course, now i thank her for that stubborness…

hoping you get to have Tons of practice… just immerse yourself…

my grandmother

is an awesoem woman. her heart is in preserving the language. very few know it. she has been instrumental in putting our language into writing.

a man from germany (linguist) learned our language (PUTS us all to shame) and comes to help make teaching books.

they created a cd (for computer) so that we can practice.

GazeboGal is walking to Rivendell!

Keep on going!

So, good progress lately?? We can’t wait to hear that you’re making some sentences and speaking with your son…

What exactly

is your language? I certainly am intrigued. Good luck with it!

hi soonforget, it is called

nuu chah nulth language. we are nuu chah nulth people. it means ‘people around the mountains’

there is actually a site if you would like to hear some of our pronounciations. simple alphabet, and common phrases

http://nuuchahnulth.org/language/language.html

i think the man from germany is coming again, i always love when he comes … because we get more of a boost from all the classes he holds.

Very Interesting

I wish you all the luck in pursuing the ability to speak your people’s language. I will definitely check out the website. I’ve always been fascinated by foreign languages!
