Get my Lansing Art Gallery exhibit packed up and ready for the gallery (read all 2 entries…)
I suppose I should just say this is done... 3 years ago

I packed everything that I had up – wrapped it all so that nothing could possibly damage the pieces and stuffed them safely into boxes. This was a week ago. I brought everything over to the gallery with my consignment agreement (yeah the gallery has one too, but I want them to acknowledge the works they have and the condition they’re in – I’ve had things return from galleries with holes in them or other such damage), my repacking instructions, and my exhibition layout (a diagram denoting which works will hang where).

Throughout the process of checking in the paintings and studies I had the chance to chit chat with a few people. They’re all of course eager for the show (as am I) and as a last minute task we went upstairs to the exhibition space to feel out the layout. Problem is, I’m maybe two pieces short. Go figure. I had estimated the space and the scale of my paintings, but somehow missed how large this one far wall was.

So, while 95% of the works are there and ready to be hung, I still need to get them two more pieces before I move. I have four pieces waiting for my consideration, but only two of them are really in my opinion good enough to be included. This weekend I plan to do more and hopefully get the last of this work done and out of the way.

To have this task done and out of the way would be lovely. One less stress to keep me sleepless at night. After this, it’s nothing but the fun part – postcards, invitations, opening reception, seeing old friends, making new ones, and then flying back home. That is what it’s all about. :)
