I would like to have a storm shelter. My husband has this idea about using railroad ties for the structure. I am not so certain about this though. I wonder if it will be structurally safe,and if he really has a clue as to what he is doing. If anyone knows some tips on doing this project give some needed input soon.

I want to include it in my next house design too, because I live in tornado alley too, with no interior rooms! YIKES!!
Thought I would build it under my passive solar sunspace, but want to use it as my media room with a projection tv, what do you think? My house will be concrete…it would be great for the screen since the room will be pitch black and small so the sound will be great, I hope.
Any ideas?
