grow mushrooms
Not as hard as you'd think! 2 years ago

Most of the articles I’ve read about growing mushrooms give the impression that if you screw up one thing just a little bit you’re bound for disaster. It didn’t work out that way for me! I wasn’t entirely sure that I wanted to put much money into something I might ultimately not enjoy or be good at, so I didn’t splurge and buy a pressure cooker, the parts for a fancy terrarium, even canning jars. I used plastic cups covered in tinfoi, boiled for one hour, and incubated then fruited everything in a $2 styrofoam cooler. Sure, my yields could probably have been better, but I’ve grown a couple of times since then and have yet to encounter a spoiled jar. Maybe I’m just lucky, but I’m convinced that as long as your reasonably careful about keeping things clean, growing some mushrooms is a fairly easy and low maintenance hobby. I can’t even keep a houseplant alive, but I can do this no problem. So don’t be intimidated :)
