Well I just signed up and it took me 20 minutes to come up with 43 goals. I had to make some vague so I could see other’s with similar goals. Some I don’t know if they are ‘real’ goals… but they are in my head. I like the fact that this is a site where people are working towards goals, and it’s not a site about all depressed people watching their life dwindle.

Welcome
I’ve been enjoying my time on this site since really being active on it. I think it’s a positive force in my life. I find myself reminded of my goals on a regular basis, see what other people are doing towards accomplishing their goals and have a chance to encourage others by cheering them or providing advice.
I’ve been on here several months and still don’t have 43 goals listed here. I’m avoiding putting short term goals here because it’s more useful for me to focus on longer term goals. I add them as they become important to me.
Interestingly enough as I’ve started frequenting this site, one of my long term goals that I thought was in the distant future or maybe would never happen will occur in two months. I’ll be travelling to Machu Picchu at the end of February and I never would have expected it. I think that putting it here helped me focus in a way that made it possible.
I hope you enjoy it here and find the kind of experience you want.
Welcome!
I agree with asp3. I’ve been on 43things/43places for well over a year. I just checked my page and I have 447 entries, have given almost 5000 cheers, and have 43 subscribers! I love 43things and use it daily. I have even met one friend that I talk to outside of the site now on a daily basis. This site can be addicting so sometimes I complain when I stay up later than I should in order to respond to posts or give away my cheers but deep down I love it! It’s a great way to work towards goals and get your thoughts down in an organized manner. It’s nice to have a place to record your dreams and ambitions for others to see. It’s also nice to talk to and gain support from others whom share those goals.
Welcome to the site! BTW, I’m going to be trying your protein/natural peanut butter recipie that you wrote about on another post. Do you use whey protein products? I’m thinking about starting a diet with them daily. I’ve used GNC strawberry and chocolate caramel whey mix in the past with very good results in terms of weight loss. Do you think that whey protein can help with weight loss?

Whey
;) Thanks 4 the welcome!
I do use whey protein every day. Whey can help in terms of weight loss because when you begin dieting you want to keep your protein levels higher because your body tends to want to break down muscle tissue first before it will utilize carbs or fat. Keeping your protein levels higher will help you get in more calories, and help your body from cannibalizing itself. They are nice meal replacements but should be used in moderation. I wouldn’t do more then two meals replaced with powder a day if you eat 6 meals a day. Most food should be consumed from natural sources of meat, veggies, fruit.
I like using protein powders around my work-out because you can take them to the gym and consume it right after your work-out (IMPORTANT) then eat a sensible meal with complex carbs and protein in the next hour or two.
Hope that helps ya!

sounds good...
Yeah, today I had two whey shakes and I feel pretty good. Was hungry for dinner tonight though, we’ll see how I do! Thanks for the input. I thought that was true about needing the extra protein. I’ve been taking the whey shakes with soy milk which contains a lot of essential amino acids too so I think I’m doing a good thing. I think they’re definitely better for me than Slimfast shakes!
Cheers,
Sissy
