If you’re not developing an actual Rails app, you can just use Rails locally on your machine. All Rails apps come with a built-in webserver. (script/server)

my rails app is ready now… but my teacher want to see my app hosted at a real “hosting” not locally, this is the terms.
I’d recommend Dreamhost.com then. It’s not free, but they run a special promo code that lets you get a full year’s of service for about $10 instead of $120. Pretty awesome deal.
I’m not sure you’ll find many “free” Rails hosting services.

i’ve tried freeonrails.com but till now i still can’t get it. anyway many thx for your respond.
oh yeah…how to run rails app in production mode on locally ????
There seems to be a few option out there with a google search. Most of them have some catch. hostingrails.com gives you a free account and wants $8 per month to provide static memory for the rails web server lighttpd or mongrel.
Try searcing and reading the fine print.
Damon Clinkscales is wondering what the robot coop is up to
http://www.railsplayground.com/ is $5
http://www.dreamhost.com/ is $10
How long does it need to be up? 1 month?
Do you still need it? I can hook you up. I have a hosting account and some extra domains I’m not using at the moment. Or you can use your own domain…
