PHP itself is a crap language and http://tnx.nl/php explains very well why.

Lynoure back here, again!
What do you recommend instead?

Lynoure back here, again!
Is that site is yours? The one thing I did not like about it was that there was a strong Perl bias, instead of it also comparing PHP to a wider array of languages that can do the same things better than PHP.

http://tnx.nl/php is not my page, and it’s “biased” in that it simply proves how Perl is superior to PHP.

Lynoure back here, again!
I wish they could have left their biases at the door in order to make the page more convincing to a wider number of people. I’m not disputing the points they make, but things like “it’s like training wheels without a bike” are not informative and made at me wonder how much the motivation was to point out just the superiority of one’s favourite language. :)
nosebleed augh!
If we should try to destroy anything, it’s horrible things like ASP. SHUDDERS

Just in case someone infers that Nosebleed implied that Perl wasn’t open source, it is.
Yeah, ASP sucks

nosebleed augh!
I know alot of PHP/MySQL (I kind of have to, since it’s a big part of my job as a web developer) and perl is on my big to-do list of things to learn.
ASP, however, never will be, at least intentionally. (Seeing as how a little of my job involves ASP, I kind of have to know a little, unfortunately)

I learned Perl from http://www.sthomas.net/oldpages/roberts-perl-tutorial.htm.
