drinking coffee may interfere with your body’s ability to keep homocysteine and cholesterol levels in check, most likely by inhibiting the action of the vitamins folate, B12 or B6. Coffee has been previously associated with increased risk of stroke and rheumatoid arthritis. Studies have also shown that caffeine in coffee can raise blood pressure and levels of stress hormones, and if consumed in large quantities it can lead to heart palpitations, jitters and nervousness.

tea helps strengthen teeth. Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay (which coffee does the exact opposite). Tea contains vitamins A, B1 and B2. Tea has minus kilojoules, therefore helping efforts to reduce weight. Tea can boost attention, accuracy and alertness and has been shown to help the mind 'multitask'. The polyphenols contained in tea slow the absorption of caffeine making tea much more refreshing and revitalising than coffee, as it stays in the body longer.

I haven’t heard of the link to homocysteine and cholosterol – I’ll try to look that up. If due to those vitamins, all you have to do is take a multi B or eat b-rich foods.
Anyway I converted over to tea a few years ago, it is much better for studying – a calmer stimulation whereas coffee tends to make you want to go out and party, whereas you need calm patience for the endless boredom of studying.
The problem is I recently heard an interview with an expert on Fluoride. Fluoride is toxic and a strong pharmacological agent. they used to use it to control hyperthyroidism 6 – 10 mg/day, since it particularly affects the thyriod – perhaps by antagonizing Iodide.
Green or black tea has naturallyu high fluoride, it is one of the very few plants that absorb it from the soil. they think it might be to deter animals from eating it since it makes them nauseous. I have gotten nauseous from drinking black tea without milk, I thought it was the bitter antioxidants like chatechins but maybe not.
Anyway natural Fluoride is not as bad as the industrial sludge they put in our drinking water which is not NaF but hydro-fluoro-salicylic acid plus other toxins like arsenic 1 ppb.

So everything was turned on its head for me a few days ago with this talk – shouldn’t just rely on one talk so I’ll be checking up – might even do my masters thesis on it. But he seemed very credible, a dentist with a degree in comparitive biochem and physiology. it might turn out that the natural F is not too bad… Fluoride is apparently also put in all sorts of medical drugs as a potent physiological activator – another reason to avoid the medical crap.

I have a slight addiction to caffeine – need one cup a day to avoid headaches and malaise – so will divide it between yerba mate and coffee until I find out more. Lipton’s has already gone in the garbage.
