Try taking 36 pictures of one thing.
The above advice was given to me as an exercise by my photography mentor. I chose a copper spigot sticking out of a brick wall. Sure enough, 35 of them were worthless, and one was decent.
I’ve also been getting good advice from the fantastic photographers Shannon & Garrick who shot our wedding. (They’re really fine art photographers and photography teachers who do weddings on the side.) http://www.shannonweisephotography.com/ .
