I really enjoyed it! Though, it is a bit different to classical belly dance. The posture is quite upright, pretty much flamenco styles … and hurts to start with! The movements are a lot tighter and more structured. And most of all, it involves a lot of improvisation and cues … that is a big part of tribal. Because it was a crash course it was sometimes hard to take it all in, learning the queues and movements and arm positions and stance. But still really fun! I’ll be definitely going back for the longer course.

For complete beginners, I’d recommend doing a classical belly dance course before doing a tribal course, I was glad I’d already done that.

I’ve done all of the classes for this crash course now … it was a bombardment but I did enjoy myself despite the room being like a sauna, it’s been boiling here!

I’m going to do more … it’s really pretty different to ordinary belly dance … I like both, I kind of want to try other styles, particularly Turkish as well.

Yeah, the costuming for tribal is the best part, all jangly things and big arm cuffs and tassles and what not.
