I’ve got to figure out how to decrease my crabbiness. This is the single biggest problem in my relationship with my husband right now. It turns both of us off.

Hi Jessa,
I heard a story of a women who was recently widowed.
After losing her husband and because of her blindness she was moved to a retirement facility where she could live indepently and be cared for.
Well, upon arrival one of the care takers was explaining to her the room she would be living in and before the widow had even visited the room she simply said I know I will be happy there.
Once in the room and before the caretaker could even finish explaining and showing the room to her, the widow said this is perfect, I will be happy here.
Puzzled the caretaker asked her how she knew that she would be happy there, afterall she had not even finished showing the widow the room.
The widow said “I am happy, because I choose to be happy.”
Perhaps, Jessa, it is not so important that you know why.
What is it that you are grateful for? Consider that next time you are wanting to be crabby. Enjoy what you have…;-)
Take care of you.
Warmest,
James
Come blog with me:
Boldly YOU!
Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to share your touching story. It’s going to take me some time to fully digest the message, but my initial reaction is that I believe it is very important to know why you are feeling the way you are. Introspection is the stuff of a healthy head. However, I agree that once introspection has turned up some understanding of one’s emotional state, the key is chosing to do something about it. Understanding without action will get you nowhere. I wonder if that’s the point where your widow was at, after a long hard look at why she was unhappy in the first place.
Thank you again for taking the time to tell your story, and also for helping me think about my “crabbiness” in a new way. I am grateful for a whole lot and sometimes lose sight of that. I will make an effort to enjoy what I have, while looking inside for a greater understanding of myself.
