the first of three mind-expanding reads tackled during a thoroughly relaxing annual retreat at Kripalu. I had an agenda in reading this, namely to sharpen my arguments on being a vegan. not because I don’t know why I am one or because I am out to convert anyone else, but because being vegan, by nature, elicits a deluge of questions. I often stand like a deer in headlights when presented with them because I try and dance the fine line of being honest without being condescending or insulting. This book helped me with that goal, and much more. Prior to reading it, I considered myself more of an “environmental” vegan rather than an “ethical” one, if that makes sense. they convinced me that I can be, and need to be, both! I highly recommend this book for anyone that is, is thinking about becoming, or knows a vegan.
