learn 3 things every day (read all 7 entries…)

- I have a bit of a caffeine addiction. Every day at work I’ll get a coffee, usually around 10:30-11:00. I typically have a bit of a slow time at that point that comes after a pretty hectic period. So it’s good to grab a coffee and a muffin. I’m on vacation this week so I’m not exactly driving by a Dunkin Donuts like I do on most days. And sure enough, today around 11:30 I started getting a pretty bad headache. It got better after lunch, but I felt great a couple hours after lunch when I went to get a coffee.

- Whole Foods actually has some pretty good prepared foods. Sure, you have to wade through 5 million soy products and dodge about 50 million hippies to get to the prepared foods section, but once you get there the stuff isn’t bad. The mac and cheese was good and most of their chicken dishes looked good enough to try. There’s also plenty of variety with both main dishes and side dishes.

- A few facts about beer from playing around on wikipedia…In Sweden 60% of all beer is sold in cans, in Denmark none is. The strongest beer believed to be made was Hair of the Dog’s, a 29% abv barley wine made in 1994. Beer is sometimes called liquid bread for the nutrients it possesses such as magnesium, selenium, potassium, phosphorus, biotin, and B vitamins although filtering the beer does cause it to lose some nutrional value. Pale lagers, also known as pilsners (Bud, Miller, Coors), are a kind of lager. Lagers are brewed in cool conditions using a slow acting yeast and then stored for a period in cool conditions
