Two days later and my legs are still thawing out. Or maybe that’s the lactic acid slowly moving through them. But I did it – the Ottawa Hypothermic Half-Marathon. Yay!
In some ways it was better than my first half-marathon and in other ways not as good. I guess everything is like that. It was a smaller run than the National Capital Half. The OHHM was capped at only 300 people, and because it was a winter run almost all of those 300 people were of the more-elite-than-I-am variety. We did a loop through the Central Experimental Farm 4 times and lots of people were at least one loop faster than me. I don’t need to be a speed demon but it did feel discouraging to watch them go by. Yet, I kept within my target pace range and I finished this half-marathon almost five minutes faster than my first one back in the spring.
And get this – afterwards I did a four hour yin yoga workshop. I wasn’t sure if I was half-crazy in signing up for it a few weeks ago, but guess what – it was the perfect antidote for my pushed-to-the limit body!
Now what’s the next limit going to be?
