I really, really, really want a job. I’ve been wanting one since I was 10. I am now 16. The only thing stopping me is my mom. There is no excuse and/or reason why I can’t have one. >:[

It’s usually the other way around, parents are wanting their kids to get jobs, and they don’t want to. Any particular reason she doesn’t want you to work?
Everytime I ask her why, she changes the subject or just gets really mad at me. One time she said it was because she didn’t feel like driving me, which would be completely unfair since she did it for my brother and sister. ;/
Ahhh..
Are you the youngest child? This might be part of the reason, perhaps your mum feels like once you get a job, you won’t be her little girl anymore (I know, it sounds silly, but that’s parents for you). Perhaps if you explain to her reasonably why you want to get a job, maybe she’ll feel better about it. Because you’re never going to stop being her daughter :)

Well I’m four years older than you are and have been working full time since I was 19. It’s hectic, yeah the money is good but there are also expenses.
My mom never wanted me to work either, coz I get distracted really easily. And she believed that working would take me away from my studying.
Thought that was nonsence and hated that I couldn’t get a part-time job when most of my friends were doing it.
But she was right at the time. Now I work in an awesome company that I’m taken seriously in, I earn a decent salary and with it I’m studying further and paying my way through life. Something I wasn’t mature enough to do when I was still in school.
So don’t rush into it, soon you will have to work to make a living, but for now enjoy your freedom and live out your youth to the fullest.
